FOSTERING EMPOWERMENT, ADVOCACY, AND SUPPORT

FOR LBQGNC INDIVIDUALS

EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOPS

Empowerment workshops, Conscious Raising, regenerative spaces and Community-Building events for  queer women and non binary folk.Focus areas include Sexuality& Identity, Holistic well-being (Physical, Mental, Emotional), Economic Independence, Self-Advocacy and navigating societal challenges Human rights and legal Justice avenues,Advocacy for bodily autonomy and protection against discrimination.

STRATEGIC ADVOCACY

Strategic Advocacy to increase understanding, acceptance and inclusivity of LGBTI individuals in Kenya through public campaigns, social media campaigns for example #JusticeIsOurs campaign aimed to highlight the real-life consequences of discrimination and social stigma faced by LBQGNC individuals, educate the public about human rights, and community awareness building through dialogues e.g. working with families to address familial violence.

SUPPORTIVE CONNECTIONS

Supportive connections to confidential services that empower LBQGNC Folk overcome the impacts of discrimination and  violence. This include referral to affirming Counseling and Mental Health Services,referrals to affirming healthcare providers. referral for free or low-cost legal advice, referral to Shelter and Housing Assistance incase of immediate threats or displacement due to discrimination and violence, peer support groups based on similar challenges e.g. Queer Parents Support Group, and violence reporting assistance.

CORDINATING MWA

Coordinating MWA membership in the 5 chapters by convening the membership assembly, providing funding support to enable membership led meetings. MWA provides contimous leadership support for the In-chapter membership leadership, maintain communication within our membership and across leadership, organize workshops on organizing & campaigning for frontline activists, and creates spaces for reflection and activist wellbeing.
